Christian Soldiers Word of Mouth Ministries

My husband suddenly and without any warning, lost his job. It felt like being on a fast moving train, the emergency break suddenly screeching the train to a halt and then being thrown off in a new place, a new situation without any transportation to get you anywhere even if you knew where to go! I had a choice to make. I could wallow in despair, discouragement, doubt or I could pick myself up off the ground and believe in the God I have come to know, trust and love with all my heart! I love this verse because it truly spoke to my heart about my choice!

Deuteronomy 30:11-20
The Offer of Life or Death
11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?" 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?" 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. 15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. 19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I made the choice to believe in God and I am walking out this faith every day, my tent pegs are being stretched to new places in my walk with God! Yes, after being knocked down by the enemy a week ago with my husband losing his job, I cannot see ahead. My direction is blurred-confused by this sudden change. I made a choice today to focus on what is clear and that is Jesus Christ! I have set my eyes, my heart, my mind, my will, my soul and my spirit on Him! I cling to the promises in His Truth that tell me that I am not knocked completely out of God’s Sovereign Will for me, so the part of it I unmistakably see today, I have chosen to completely yield myself to. In times of transition, my heavenly hindsight gives me clear vista to the past wisdom I learned from my adventures with my Father God; so I know the best options for me today are to guard my heart and steps by putting my hand firmly into the hand of His Infinite Love, totally trusting in the strength of it to “grow” me through this day, and stepping into the imprint of God’s Sovereign Will, His footprints He left that are right in front of me today! These choices are the righteous steps I can take today, even if I can’t see any clarity ahead. I choose life today! Jesus! You are simply-significantly enough for me! AWE-GOD!

How about you? Have you had a “suddenly” hit your life lately? How did you handle it? In light of the truth of the Word of God in Deuteronomy 30, how should we handle the sudden trials in our lives?
Talk It Up! Would love to hear back from you!

Hi Kim

The world is like a major league pitcher with a great arm for curve balls.

I can relate...been laid off for months now...no prospects in sight.

I just keep Philippians 4 close to my heart.

I have been through allot in my life...And there where times where I did not want to hear ''Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.''.....Still, with out scripture that we can hold unto, we have nothing...Many of us have scripture burned into our hearts and I for one have mine...I praise God for his word, his promises and for being faithful, even when I am not...All praise to God...
